the curious case of the kite that decided to escape

Posted by: In: Fun, Journal, Taylor 30 Mar 2009 Comments: 3 Tags: ,

Mark and Taylor decided to go fly a kite last night. They had fun. The line got a little tangled so Mark tried to get it untangled. It worked. He wound it back up. They flew and flew and flew that kite.

Finally they decided to let it fly higher.

The kite wanted to escape. It must have talked to the string because the string started to pull away. Faster and faster. The string escaped. The kite escaped. The string got caught in a tree. Too high for Mark and Taylor to try and get it out.

It was 8:15 p.m.

At 9:00 p.m. it was still flying.

At 11:00 p.m. it was still flying.

The next morning at 7:30 a.m. the kite was still flying.

As of now, 11:50 a.m. (that’s when the picture was taken), the kite flies.

Update: 1:30 p.m., still going strong.

2nd Update: 2:40 p.m. flying.

3rd Update: 3:00 p.m. wind very strong and kite not flying. It was stuck up against fence where we enter the park. Mitzi got it and brought it home.

Yay!

That kite flew for almost 19 hours by itself.

I want to laugh and make a quip about West Texas, but the story is simply too joyful to mock. Reminds me of the plastic bag in American Beauty.
